Our client, a leading global Financial Institution, requires a Grid Architect for their Middleware Infrastructure Unit.

Job description:

In the position as "Grid Architect" you will support to further develop and maintain their middleware infrastructure architecture for the Enterprise Grid (Datasynapse, General Purpose Graphical Processing Units (GPGPU)) and the middleware infrastructure in general.
Your role will include devising solution concepts, their sizing and cost estimation, develop and review of designs for quality and operational feasibility and the final implementation.
For several internal projects you will assume the role of project manager. Our service delivery model includes an offsite delivery center for general standardized administration and operation services.

Your role:

We are specifically looking for a young, energetic person with hands-on experience in platform implementation, integration and solving technical challenges. In this role you will report to the Head of Middleware. You will be interfacing with the various projects contacts, development and infrastructure teams.

The team also maintains, develops and engineers other middleware products such as:

WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Process Server, WebSphere Compute Grid, WebSphere MQ, etc#
Experience with any of those products is considered as plus.

Requirements:

  • An education in IT, a similar field or an equivalent experience gainedin your previous positions
  • You are a senior professional with a minimum of 5 years experience in the area of grid and cloud computing with fairly good knowledge about distributed and federated caching solutions
  • You have an accurate approach to work with an eye for detail service and customer orientation
  • Providing services and added value to customers is a challenge you like to accomplish
  • You are a strong team player with the ability to drive tasks and small projects independently
  • You have experience of communicating and interacting professionally within your team and in interdisciplinary projects (cross-platform)
  • You maintain a professional attitude even in periods of stress and time pressure

Your Skills:

  • Some knowledge in the computing and data grid area especially with Grid Server (TIBCO Datasynapse), Win HPC, GPGPU (CUDA) to run Grid Server in a global environment with high availability features
  • Knowledge with various data grid and caching solutions like TerraCotta, Oracle Times Ten are considered a plus
  • The relationship of good architectural design and operational efficiency
  • Administration of Grid Server / Java
  • You have been exposed to a range of application platform  technologies and products, such as Linux, Solaris, Oracle; Java is considered a plus
  • You have experience of orchestrating internal and external providers towards a common deliverable and timeline
  • You have experience with WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Process Server, WebSphere Compute Grid, WebSphere MQ is considered a plus
  • You are fluent in English (written and spoken) and you are a skilled communicator. Speaking German is a definite plus.
  • You understand the need for flexibility of working hours in situations such as project go-lives, maintenance / migration activities or correcting operational issues
